Installing Firadisk


Download the firadisk driver (see here) and unzip the contents to C:\firadisk\.

Method 1

Install firadisk via the Add Hardware Wizard. The following instructions are for Windows XP however other versions of Windows use similar steps. To open the Add Hardware Wizard in Windows XP, Goto the Start menu > Run to open a Run dialog box and type hdwwiz.cpl [Enter] (if installing in Windows 7 enter hdwwiz [Enter]).

  1. Welcome to the Add Hardware Wizard - click on the Next > button
  2. Is the hardware connected? - select Yes, I have already connected the hardware, then click on the Next > button (this step is skipped in Windows 7)
  3. The following hardware is already installed on your computer - scroll to the bottom of the installed hardware list and select Add a new hardware device, then click on the Next > button (this step is skipped in Windows 7)
  4. The wizard can help you to install other hardware - select Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced), then click on the Next > button
  5. From the list below, select the type of hardware you are installing - select SCSI and RAID controllers (select Storage controllers in Windows 7), then click on the Next > button
  6. Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware - click on the Have Disk... button and Browse... to the C:\firadisk directory and select firadisk.inf Open, then click on the OK button
  7. Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware - FiraDisk Virtual Disk Enumerator should be displayed in the Model list, with a warning displayed below stating that This driver is not digitally signed!. Click on the Next > button
  8. The wizard is ready to install your hardware - click on the Next > button
  9. When prompted with warning FiraDisk Virtual Disk Enumerator has not passed Windows Logo testing... click on the Continue Anyway button
  10. Completing the Add Hardware Wizard - click on the Finish button

Method 2

Use the command line tool DevCon. Download the self extracting archive and unpack the contents to C:\Devcon\ - two versions are included, use C:\Devcon\i386\devcon.exe in 32-bit Windows.

Method 3
